Empowering counseling to help you achieve your goals
Mindfulness therapy, also known as "mindful therapy," is a type of counseling focused on mindful thinking, intent, and behavior. During mindful therapy, counselors typically encourage clients to carefully monitor, observe, and consider their thoughts and bodily sensations.
Marcy uses a variety of evidence-based techniques, including cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness practices, to help clients overcome negative thought patterns and behaviors. I believe in a holistic approach to mental health, addressing both the mind and body.
Honoring diversity and inclusivity, as a therapist, can look as follows: Always understanding and learning to incorporate an emphasis on cultures, gender, ethnicities, religions, and demographics. Eliminating judgments, stereotypes, and bias through education and professional development.
In the field of mental health, inclusivity can also mean offering accessible and equitable care to every client, regardless of their background. Not only this, it means making services, like counseling, accessible to those who have historically been unable to access them.
Collaborative therapy refers to a form of therapy in which both the counselor and the client work together to make decisions about how best to proceed with treatment. It is based on several key principles of practice, including collaboration, accountability, integrity, and respect.
Collaborative therapists focus on empowering individuals to overcome their problems by setting goals collaboratively and identifying resources to achieve those goals.
Marcy is an adult and child licensed social worker in advanced clinical practice with a master of science degree and over 2500 hours of direct-client clinical contact. She has extensive experience working in adult and children counseling centers, and for families and individuals in need. She has brought this knowledge and experience into her own private practice to help individual adults and couples thrive from the difficulties of life transitions, co-parenting and divorce, addiction, abuse, and relational trauma.
"Anxiety and depression can be overcome by reaching into those spaces we try to protect, understanding their role, and working on whole-person solutions for a better life." After utilizing careful assessment techniques obtained through over 25 years of interactions with varied populatons, Marcy then actively engages and pinpoints specific evidenced-based treatment options for her clients,
She specializes in working through the effects of trauma with an emphasis on stress-related conditions with veterans, survivors of childhood and relational trauma, crime and abuse victims, and codependency brought on by caregiving or addiction. She has over 20 yeaars of mindfulness training and practice and utilizes it through mind, body, and spiritual techniques to achieve overall mental health and healing. She is certified in the most up-to-date treatment of ADHD and ASD, trauma-informed, and drug and alcohol prevemtion that utilizes DBT and CBT, solution-focused treatment. In her sessions, she also encompasses neuro-psychology brain function education for a clearer and more tangible understanding for her clients.
She is actively involved in adolescent, teen, and adult community mental health advocacy groups with an emphasis on stigma-reduction and inclusiveness including, "NAMI, To Write Love on Her Arm, and the student-led Healthy Minds Network", along with groups supporting advocacy for LGBTQI+, hate-crime victim groups, and Neurodivergency in the Space Coast and Central Florida.
Marcy was President of the PsiChi Cocoa UCF psychology honours society, and held board positions for Space Coast Mental Health Counselors Association SCMHCA, and the Space Coast Florida Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers NASW. She worked as a college board testing tutor for neurodivergent students, assessor of vocational rehab for the disabled, and as a mandatory DUI counselor and instructor for the state of Florida during her graduate studies.
"Mental health therapy has evolved considerably, and gone are the days of attaching stigmaa and lying on the couch to uncover a person's incompetence and blame." Marcy believes that most conditions are either related to misinformation obtained through the effects of maladaptive generational coping of excaberated by events beyond the person's control. Life flies by through use of social media, demands of present-day-living, and lack of time, either by necessity or design to attend to our mental health.
As a clinical, trauma-informed therapist with an emphasis on an inclusivie and neurodivergent approach to therapy, I recognize and understand how experiences and development impact mental, behavioral, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. Individual therapy offers support skills and strategies to assist in better understanding, coping with, and processing emotions and memories for a better life.
